I may never get my car serviced again

My current and previous car have a feature that puts up a warning light on your dash when the next maintenance is due. At first the light just flashes at startup as the maintenance mileage approaches. As you get nearer to the designated mileage the light stays on.

Since we are trained to respond when a dash light comes on, I always get my car serviced so that they'll reset the thing and my tension level can ratchet down a notch.

I had the oil changed yesterday, the 10,000 mile service, and they forgot to reset the warning! I was torn between taking time out to go back to the dealership and driving with the light on for another 10,000 miles. I decided to go back, but I called to make sure I'd be in and out quickly.

The fellow at the dealership told me how to reset the light! I feel like I'm in on a trade secret - I'm an insider now! Whee. So, I was able to reset the light and saved the trip.

Life's little pleasures.

Update: I'm told the directions to do this are in the manual.... (I should probably read the manual.) :-)
