This explains it, I think....

From an Op-Ed by a Hillary supporter. Money quote:
During the campaign, we scoffed at events like this, mostly because we were not capable of producing them.
"This" is Obama's acceptance speech at an outdoor stadium attended by 70-80,000 people and watched by 38 million.

I think this explains why the McCain camp has substituted 'scoffing' for political discourse. In their wildest dreams, they couldn't produce an event like this. They don't have the right candidate.

If the people of the USA vote in McCain/Palin, after spending the last 8 yrs in GOP dysfunction, and don't have the maturity or wisdom to recognize failure, then they deserve what they get.

Every signal is being 'resent' here that it will be a total f(*k up of political 4 yrs if McCain gets in. In times of anxiety, people revert to 'what they know'. McCain knows the military. Its been proved, and re-proved over and over that aggression doesn't solve any problems unless it is implemented in defence. Not offence. A US govt with a military trained leader represents a worse position for this country based on the current state of the economy, social injustice and threat to civil liberty. And to put someone with staunch views on gun ownership, right-wing hard core religious belief and little or no global experience is the fuse that will ignite that cluster-f(*k.
